I’m joining in on the fun of {pretty, happy, funny, real} from Like Mother, Like Daughter. It’s all about capturing moments throughout the week to help reflect on what’s going on and practicing contentment in our everyday lives. So here’s my first contribution.
{pretty}
Well, we got another thick blanket of snow last night and most of the day today. It’s really piling up, and I just said last week to Chad, “I think winter’s over. I feel like the snow is really done this time.” Nope. We got another ten inches. On the bright side, Chad and I got snow days so we could work from home together, and it’s awfully pretty.
{happy}
Last weekend, Chad and I broke out our big box of Carcassonne, which is a really fun map-building game. Our big box has like 4 or 5 expansion packs and we played with all of them… twice. I lost both times but playing games with Chad still makes me happy.

Olive Oil is not your average aloof cat. On the contrary, she loves to be around us as much as possible, so when we sit at the table for dinner or work or playing a game, she must come too. This is often challenging since she also loves small things that she can kick around, like a thousand little games pieces. So after we tortured her by not letting her near us and the game, and she tortured us by not relenting, I gave in and she laid in my arms like a little baby on the table. This of course did not stop her from reaching for any game pieces that came close. She does make us laugh a lot.
{real}
I also got to go to my friend Kelly’s baby shower last weekend. I’m so happy for her. I could have also put this picture under happy. But because this baby has been long awaited, and now s/he is almost here, I felt like real was where it belonged. There’s nothing more real than trying and waiting and losing and grieving and then finally conceiving. Plus, one of the things I like best about my friendship with Kelly is the honesty and realness of it.
Thank you so much for your kind words. That’s one reason I like our friendship as well. 🙂

Our cat is the same way! I always say she’s more like a dog than a cat & I absolutely love it!
I’ve never heard of that board game but it looks like fun! We love board games but it’s been way too long since we’ve played one.

It had been a long time since we’d played a board game too, so I’m so glad we broke it out last weekend! I love that our cat is more dog than cat, too. She even plays fetch with us on occasion. Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to checking out your blog, too!
